The ferries operate 24 hours
a day. Basically 1 ferry per hour is leaving in
either direction but the crew always waits until
the vessel is full. Thats why it sometimes takes
more or less then on hour. Snacks and drinks can
be purchased on board. For more comfort a cabin
on the upper deck can be rent for the trip. The
price for this is matter of negotiation.
General Tips
Porter Service
Watch out for harbour porters who whisk your
bags away and demand payment. The service is not
for free. If you wish you luggage to be carried
negotiate the price before.
Security on regular
ferries
Always have an eye on your luggage and never
leave it alone on regular feries. To avoid
troubles at arrival wait until trucks and cars
have left the vessel. Most driver start their
engines minutes before the ferry arrives and the
air in the parking deck is full of exhaust.
Time Zones
Be aware that indonesia has 3 different time
zones. That can be important if you travel
through the country. Always check departure- and
arrival- times of the vessels you want to use.
